Wasn't what i expected, but learned some random facts.

When i first read the title of this book i assumed it was a basic review of american history. Well it actually refers to, and maybe this is obvious, the beginning of American History.
The book starts with Ancient Greek civilizations and goes through the various eras in European History- it doesn't even mention Columbus until over halfway through the text.
The writing isn't particularly strong and the structure is completely erratic. However, the author squeezes novelty facts throughout the chapters. This information is random and useless but also mildly amusing.
Do not read this book expecting to pick up general knowledge or anything relevant.. I would not recommend this book to read, but it's free so if you're really craving some random sporadic ancient history that's poorly written and irrelevant, download.
It's free, so if you hate it no biggy :)

Not a fan of history, but a good book none-the-less

I've never done all that good with history, dates, times and places aren't my sticking points. This book however steps a little farther outside of the usual basics to give a little more of a context for the events and people.

From the European point of view this is really bad

I am a new US resident born in Europe, study there and had more than 9 years of World history and European history. This book gives a poor i introduction to the European history, in other words it makes such a confusion and mess, that it look like is trying to teach people that do not have any intelligence. If you want to learn about the origins of the American history you will have to go deeper look at the Vikings, Portuguese discoveries, followed by the Spanish and then almost a century later you will have the start of the British Empire, French expansion as well. Really a mess, that is why it is for free on Kindle. By the way, in Europe we learn deep on history and it is not impartial as I am finding here in the Americas. If you want to educate the masses do it in a responsible and proper way.
